Dermapen Microneedling in San Diego: What to Expect

Dermapen 4 microneedling comes to Glowtox Aesthetics in October 2026, at both our Pacific Beach and Solana Beach studios. If you've been thinking about smoother texture, softer acne scars, smaller-looking pores or a more even tone, here's what the treatment involves, what it costs and what results you can realistically expect.

What is microneedling?

Microneedling creates thousands of tiny, controlled micro-channels in the skin. Your skin responds with its natural renewal process, which supports new collagen and elastin. Over the following weeks, that remodeling can help skin look smoother, firmer and more refined.

It's a popular choice because it treats texture and scarring without heat, and it works on a wide range of skin types.

Why Dermapen 4?

Not all microneedling devices are the same. Dermapen 4 uses fast, vertical needle movement to create precise micro-channels, and your provider can adjust the depth throughout the treatment. That matters because your face isn't uniform: the thin skin near your eyes needs a different approach than acne scarring on your cheeks or texture on your forehead.

That area-by-area control fits the way we work at Glowtox: evaluate first, customize second and avoid one-size-fits-all treatment.

What can Dermapen microneedling help with?

  • Acne scarring, especially shallow or rolling scars

  • Fine lines and early signs of aging

  • Uneven texture and rough-feeling skin

  • Visible pores

  • Dull or tired-looking skin

  • Melasma and uneven tone, with our MG-BL brightening infusion

  • Thinning hair, with scalp microneedling and EXO-GROW

Microneedling for melasma: a non-laser option

Melasma can be frustrating because heat-based treatments may make it worse. At Glowtox, face microneedling includes MG-BL, a professional brightening infusion with kojic acid, vitamin C and licorice root, when your provider recommends it. It's designed to help reduce the appearance of melasma, sun spots and uneven tone.

Melasma needs a careful approach. Your provider will treat conservatively, and daily sun protection is essential to maintain your results. If sun damage and redness are your main concerns, BBL HEROic at our Solana Beach studio may be a better fit. We'll help you decide at your consultation. Learn more about BBL HEROic and MOXI.

Boosters: exosomes and PRP

Right after microneedling, your skin is especially receptive. Many patients add a booster:

  • Exosomes are a professional Dp Dermaceuticals serum applied after treatment. Patients choose them for a faster-feeling recovery and extra glow, with no blood draw. Available at both studios.

  • PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is prepared from a small sample of your own blood and applied during treatment. Available at our Pacific Beach studio.

Launch pricing and booking details are at the end of this post.

What to expect at your appointment

  1. Consultation. Your provider reviews your skin, history and goals and confirms you're a good candidate.

  2. Numbing. Topical numbing cream is applied for comfort.

  3. Treatment. Dermapen 4 is moved across each area, with depth adjusted as it goes. Plan on about an hour in total.

  4. Aftercare. Expect redness similar to a mild sunburn for a day or two. You'll go home with aftercare instructions.

How many treatments? Most patients start with a series of three, about four weeks apart. Collagen builds gradually, so results keep developing in the weeks after each session. Scalp patients often continue with maintenance sessions.

Is microneedling right for you?

Microneedling is a strong fit if your main concerns are texture, scarring, pores or fine lines, or if you want a non-heat option for pigmentation. It may not be right if you have an active skin infection, a current acne flare in the treatment area, or certain medical conditions. Your provider will confirm candidacy at your consultation.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Dermapen microneedling cost in San Diego at Glowtox?

Launch pricing at Glowtox is $399 for a face treatment or $999 for a series of three, through December 31, 2026. Face plus exosomes is $499, scalp microneedling with EXO-GROW is $499, and PRP can be added for $150 at our Pacific Beach studio. New patients receive $100 off their first treatment.

How many microneedling sessions will I need?

Most patients start with a series of three treatments spaced about four weeks apart. Collagen remodeling builds gradually, so results continue to develop in the weeks after each session.

Does microneedling hurt?

We apply topical numbing cream before treatment, and most patients describe the feeling as vibration or light pressure. Comfort varies by person and treatment area.

How much downtime is there after microneedling?

Most people have redness similar to a mild sunburn for a day or two, and many return to their normal routines quickly. Your provider will give you aftercare instructions.

Can microneedling help melasma?

Face microneedling at Glowtox includes MG-BL, a professional brightening infusion designed to help reduce the appearance of melasma and uneven tone, when your provider recommends it. Because melasma can flare with heat and irritation, your provider will take a conservative approach, and daily sun protection is essential.

Where can I get Dermapen microneedling in San Diego?

Glowtox offers Dermapen 4 microneedling at both studios: Pacific Beach at 910 Grand Avenue, Suite 203, and Solana Beach at 115 W Plaza Street. PRP add-ons are available at Pacific Beach only.

Individual results vary. Candidacy is confirmed at consultation. Exosome and EXO-GROW products are cosmetic and are not FDA-approved to treat any medical condition.
